Working Up To The Test

Today we continued to work on our problems from yesterday. After talking to Max, if you thought you were ready you could do a test, or you could do another practise question. He gave us all the test to take home for Spring Break. Good luck, and have a good one!

The Daily Post

Today we had no mental math or notes, instead we just worked on our design and measurement problems that we got printed out yesterday. When we finish our problems we are supposed to pair up and correct each others project based on the marking rubric. It doesn't matter who corrects the problem, as long as it's not marked by you.

2 days until spring break:)

We began class with mental math.
Yesterday we were supposed to leave class with the three marks from question 1. Today he showed us how we recieved the 3 marks. Then we finished question B and C on question 1. After, we had to go into the provincal math exams in the inquiry tasks and pick a problem. This is our new assignment.

Unhappy Test marks

Yesterday we took our personal finance and sequences / series test.

Need less to say today we need to talk about it.

Mr. Maksymchuk wanted us to do some constructive criticism if there is a problem with the methiod of teaching in the class room.

So at the begining of class we took 30 mins to do so.

And the rest of the class we did excelerated math.

More Personal Finance!!!

Today in class we started out with the usuall, Mental Math.Yippie!!! (Something that most of us probaly dont like that much but we all have to do it). After correcting out mental math we went onto our Blog and once again started reviewing some old exams about Personal Finance. Mr Maksymchuk decided that we were going to porspone our test to Wenseday because we are not ready for it. He then decided that he was going to send us home with 2-3 questions form the old exam to see if we are understanding what we are being taugh. So go home and do the questions and show us what you got! And most importantly HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!:)

Daily Post

Today, we have started the class of 8 people with Mental Math. As people were finishing their mental math questions, Mr. Maksymchuk was telling us about his years in the past when he had made a gun in class that could go through cinder blocks, (such as on the back wall in the class)

Following the mental math, we had went to our blog and looked through the old provincial exams. Throughout the lesson we had used Excel, as well as our calculators.
Words we have went over today in class:
Equity; amount you own
Unpaid Balance; amount you owe
If you need to Mr. Maksymchuk has saved a excel file in our folder, for our uses. So that is where you can find it. Just a reminder the test that was supposed to be next Tuesday, might be changed to another date, but to be on the safe side, practice and see what you know.

March 10th-Personal Finance

Today we started the block off with mental math. We could not get Maksymchuck off topic too much except for him showing us a game that he has on his i pod so.... we learned about T.V.M ( time value of money) and learned some formulas as we went over provincial exam questions on personal finance.

15 more classes until spring break!

We started off the class with mental math.
Then he gave us time to finish up the questions that were assigned last week when the sub was here. Which were questions 2, 6, 10, 12, and 13. They are due at 3:40.
We basically had a catch up class.

Thursday with a sub.

Today our assignment was to finish what we had started yesterday. Questions two, six, ten, twelve, and thirteen. Accelerated math is still on, and up to objective nine is due, now. If we get all of that finished, we are to listen to the recording of personal finance and make notes. It is basically just a catch up block.

Today Mr. Maksymchuk is away we have todo questions 2,6,10,12,13 in the sequences booklet. If you complet that do some excelerated math. After you have finished that please take some notes on personal finace on the j drive.

-He then showed us how to print from excel. Click and drag the area wanted. go to page layout and go to page setup. Fit landscap and adjust to your area / Grid lines ? convert to black and white. etc. Print Preview- Hit Print!

-Pascals Triangle was up next. It was something new but easy to understand after a while. He used SHODOR to explain how to figure it our. There is a link to SHODOR on the blog and if not then here is the site: http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/

- Fractile: Let _ be between 0 and 1. In a set of observations of a variable the _ fractile is the number for a fraction _ of the observations is less than this number. The fraction is often given in percent; the term percentile may then be used. ( definition found on Google )

Monday, March 1st

Today on a beautiful Monday afternoon, Mr. Maksymchuk talked to us about him not being in class on Thursday and Friday,(and possibly Wednesday). He is going to record a lesson and the class is to bring headphones to listen to it. He let us have a work period to work on accelerated math and questions 11 and 15 which will be a checked tomorow for marks.
